I hope you all have a safe and enjoyable holiday
season.
I also thought I would let you know about our reading goals
that we have set in each class. Working with the teachers, our new
literacy coach, Mrs. Stokes, has created a classroom reading goal for each
class. We set the goals after carefully examining the data from the
beginning of year DIBELS test. The goal focuses on improvement on the
reading skills measured by the DIBELS test. If a class reaches its goal,
they will get to have a class party. Hopefully this will help to motivate
our students to work hard and read more. Our teachers are also working
hard to become even more effective in their instruction and intervention.
They are closely examining data and making adjustments to their
strategies. We all recognize the importance of reading. It is
the key to future success for our students.
One other reminder. Please talk to your student(s)
about the importance of coughing into their elbow and washing their hands
frequently. Unfortunately, this is also the season for sickness.
Thank you for everything you do for your children and for
working with us. We are glad to be a part of the community.
Sincerely,
Mr. Johnson
