New Mission and Vision Tab

We have created a new Mission and Vision tab that can be reached from the main page of our website.

Merry Christmas!!

I hope you all have a safe and enjoyable holiday season.

I also thought I would let you know about our reading goals that we have set in each class.  Working with the teachers, our new literacy coach, Mrs. Stokes, has created a classroom reading goal for each class.  We set the goals after carefully examining the data from the beginning of year DIBELS test.  The goal focuses on improvement on the reading skills measured by the DIBELS test.  If a class reaches its goal, they will get to have a class party.  Hopefully this will help to motivate our students to work hard and read more.  Our teachers are also working hard to become even more effective in their instruction and intervention.  They are closely examining data and making adjustments to their strategies.  We all recognize the importance of reading.   It is the key to future success for our students.

One other reminder.  Please talk to your student(s) about the importance of coughing into their elbow and washing their hands frequently.  Unfortunately, this is also the season for sickness.

Thank you for everything you do for your children and for working with us.  We are glad to be a part of the community.

Sincerely,
Mr. Johnson

Thank you for Your Donation

Lake View Elementary is very grateful to Young Ford of Brigham City!

Young Ford recently donated $1,000 to Lake View.  They told us we could use the money however we chose to.  We have decided to use it to purchase reading instructional materials.  A couple of representatives from the dealership came and visited the school and brought us the check.  They were very kind and enthusiastic about Lake View.

Lake View is also grateful to Common Cents located at 986 S. Main Street

Lake View Elementary received a donation of $500.00 from the Common Cents gas station.  The manager, Janet Hunt, dropped by with the check.  Janet attended Lake View and was excited to help out our school.  Common Cents donated money to us last year as well.  We are so grateful for their support and generosity. Common Cents asked us to use this money to support math or science instruction, so that is what we will do.

Principal's Message

Greetings from Lake View!

I hope that the Thanksgiving season is a happy one for all of you!  We have really been enjoying this school year. Our teachers, students and staff have all been working very hard.
We recently have been talking a lot about reading.  Working together, we have set some goals within each classroom that we are going to try and reach.   Each grade level has also set a goal.  As a school, our goal is to have 79% of our students at grade level on their reading by the end of the year.  This will be determined by the end of year DIBELS score.  The DIBELS assessment is administered three times per year.
We are working hard to improve our instruction and to use data more effectively as we track student progress.  We are also trying to be more flexible and adaptable with our use of small group instruction and group assignment.
We have already benefited from the help of many volunteers who are helping us to monitor the progress of our students.  We are very grateful for that assistance.
Time will tell if we reach our goals, but I am very optimistic that we can do it.
Thank you for your support!  You children are incredible and they are our purpose here at Lake View.

Mr. Johnson
